Ekamara is one of the first projects in the Ekam project collection. It is modelled on the Japanese way of living where the emphasis is on simplicity, harmony and tranquility. Also, the design of the project is based on minimalism, where the spaces will symbolize calmness.
Ekamara is shaped on four broad principles – Zen Garden Design, Modern Living, Contemporary Design and a Rustic Charm. Just like how Zen gardens use gravel, sand and stone, the community pathways, seating areas and courtyards will incorporate natural materials like stone, wood and gravel.
Well-planned community parks will be a big feature of Ekamara. The artful placement of rocks in Zen gardens finds resonance in community rockeries, retaining walls and sculptural features.
The appreciation for wabi-sabi which means imperfect beauty and yūgen which is subtle grace in Zen gardens, influences the design of community spaces, celebrating impermanence and the passage of time.
Ekamara is thoughtfully designed to incorporate mindfulness into every aspect of its park, streetscape, and landscape designs, creating spaces that encourage present-moment awareness, contemplation, and connection with nature. The emphasis on natural tranquility is evident in the abundant green spaces and quiet corners that offer a serene escape. Inspired by the simplicity of Zen gardens, Ekamara’s community landscapes are characterized by clean lines, uncluttered spaces, and a focus on essential elements, resulting in a harmonious environment. Celebrating the legacy of Zen gardens, Ekamara’s design fosters a profound sense of peace and well-being.
Shizen, an adjective meaning “to be natural,” guides the intentional creation of spaces that evoke a natural feel. This approach involves designing environments that grow to look and feel naturally harmonious by incorporating abundant natural spaces, such as open areas and green expanses. The use of natural materials throughout these spaces, along with native planting, rock gardens, and sensory gardens, further enhances the organic and tranquil atmosphere.
The community’s design is rooted in core principles aimed at creating a highly livable environment for future residents. Parks and open spaces are designed to be flexible, accommodating future changes by using a modular approach that fits together like a puzzle. The focus is on timeless appeal and functionality rather than fleeting trends, ensuring ease of maintenance and well-considered amenities for both current and future generations. The design also maximizes opportunities for amenities and landscape features while prioritizing pedestrian-friendly streetscapes.
